The Fair Tax: Lifting the Burden on the Middle Class and Those Struggling to Get There
Right now, our state and country are living through a devastating global pandemic, which has highlighted how years of underfunding the social safety net has shortchanged the Illinois residents who rely on it—cutting needed programs, and even causing agencies to drop services or go out of business altogether.
Passing the Fair Tax amendment in November would be a strong first step in righting these wrongs.
If passed, the Fair Tax amendment will change the state constitution and eliminate the requirement that Illinois tax income at a single rate, allowing instead for higher rates for higher incomes and lower rates for people with low and moderate incomes.
Join us for a discussion about why the Fair Tax is needed, and learn how it can fix our broken system, provide relief to working families, and deliver fair funding to our communities.
The discussion will be moderated by Illinois State Senator Elgie R. Sims.
He will be joined in conversation by:
Donna Miller, Cook County Commissioner
Graciela Guzman, Campaign Director of the Healthy Illinois Campaign
Sam Tuttle, Committee Director for Vote Yes for Fair Tax
