Pro-Choice Walkout – Maine South

We will stand together to protect the reproductive rights of women. An estimated 43% of women will have at least one abortion by the time they are 45 years old. Women should have control over their bodies and no one has the prerogative to take that away. 19% of teens who have had sexual intercourse become pregnant each year and this number is higher among women of color. 78% of these pregnancies are unplanned. 6 in 10 teen pregnancies occur among 18-19 year olds. Only about 50% of teen mothers receive a high school diploma by 22 years of age, whereas approximately 90% of women who do not give birth during adolescence graduate from high school. We are protesting the effect of the abortion bans on women. All women should have the option to terminate a pregnancy for any reason they see fit. All students and faculty are welcome to attend. This is not intended to disrupt learning or class in any manner. We are just exercising our constitutional rights of assembly. Exit toward the football field during the passing period before 5th period on Tuesday(11:40-11:45) in an orderly fashion, without causing any disruptions. We will begin at 12:10 on the football field. Anyone is welcome to prepare speeches, bring snacks, make shirts, and celebrate feminism. Bring sunscreen and a smile!
