Annual Candlelight Vigil to End Gun Violence

Oak Park Temple B’Nai Abraham Zion will host a Candlelight Vigil to End Gun Violence at 7PM on December 13th in commemoration of the 6th anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy as well as in memory of the 600,000 Americans killed or wounded by gun violence since December 2012. The vigil is in partnership with the Newtown Action Alliance and one of hundreds of vigils nationwide. Locally the vigil is sponsored by the Oak Park Temple B’Nai Abraham Zion, MOMS Demand Action Oak Park-Austin, Waging Peace of First United Church of Oak Park, Congregations Committed to Peace, Gun Responsibility Advocates, and Ascension Peace and Justice Committee. All are invited.
This year we will honor the work of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, the organization specifically named by the shooter in Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue. Please bring a small holiday gift or gift card, non-perishable food item, or a financial donation (check made out to HIAS -Chicago).
