Mark your calendars. We are starting with a series on race and how to talk about it. The first few will be for beginners. We have lots to learn.
Let’s face it white people have work to do. Talking about race is relatively new to most of us. We didn’t grow up learning, thinking and talking about race. We are not good at it. We need to develop our language, knowledge and practice these skills.
We will work up to deeper dives and a racial justice workshop and special guest facilitators. I hope we will expand our reading into other “isms” and difficult conversations.
Pop in at Bookies, on Ridge Rd Homewood , IL and order your first books “So You Want To Talk about Race” by Ijeoma Oluo and “Why are all the black kids sitting together in the cafeteria?” Beverly Daniel Tatum.
Bring an appetizer or dessert to share if you’d like. BYOB
